Hello to you! Yes, you, sitting right there…the one reading this right now! My name is Wynter. I am mom to four daughters, Alena, Kaitlyn, Camryn and Olivia! I am also the Founder and of For Girls Like You Magazine and For Girls Like You Devotional written for girls just like you!
Did you know that God knows all about friendships? He also knows all about beauty, hard work, fear, love, and fun. He knows all about everything because He created it all!
God wants you to know all about Him and how His love will change your life!
Are you ready to see what God wants you to know today?
Every Day Is a Good Day
Some days just start off wrong. You know the mornings where you can’t find your favorite jeans? Or the day all of your socks are dirty? Or when your hair just won’t “do right,” and then you find out there is no milk for your cereal…after you have poured it into your bowl!
There is no question about it: These days are hard. You may just want to cry, scream, slam a door, and lock yourself in your room for the rest of the day!
But you can’t! Your family would not want you to do that, it would not make you feel any better, and most importantly, God does not want you to behave that way!
James 1:2-4 reminds us to “Consider it pure joy…whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
Yes, you read that right! God says that challenges and tests (including difficult mornings) are to be treated like a gift! Sounds weird, right?
God is not saying that He is happy that you are having a bad day. He’s not telling you to pretend to be happy about it either. Instead, He just wants you to think about it differently. He wants you to use those days to show what you know about Him and the difference He makes in your life!
It is pretty easy to be loving, peaceful, joyful, and all smiles when things are going great. But difficult mornings, hard days, and even hard weeks are the perfect way to practice showing your godly character—Jesus in you.
So next time things are not going your way, do not lock yourself in your room! Instead, ask God what He is trying to teach you and how you can grow from what is happening.
Dear God, this is a really hard lesson to learn. When bad things happen or things just don’t go my way, please help me to focus on You and to find joy even as I walk in not-so-fun moments and days. Help me to remember that You are growing me when these things happen! In Jesus’s name, Amen.
