Packing for Service

By: Tenderheart, Katie

I earn a lot of my service hours working for kidsPACK. KidsPACK is an organization that helps feed kids in school who don’t have enough food for the weekend. As a kidsPACK helper I put spoons on the cardboard with all the other things that we use and I am quality control. Quality control means that I am the person who makes sure everything is on the piece of cardboard. A couple of things we include are pop-tarts, Chef Boyardee, crackers, and on very special occasions apple juice. Our meals go in backpacks at a local elementary school. In December, we don’t just give them meals we get books and give them to the kids. For some kids, that’s their only present. They love the books and the meals that we give them as much as we love making them. We have met three kids in the program because they came to help us pack meals and say thank you. I’m the youngest helper in this program. I am grateful that our church sponsors this program and that I get to be a part of it.
